Projects:• Architecture for pluggable application (Central Designer) for designing clinical trials. Extensions/plugins allow deployment to multiple runtimes and seamless integration between these runtimes. Pluggable architecture also allows multiple teams to develop plugins in parallel and have independent releases. Project had two constrains: i) application had to be pluggable; ii). it had to be based on existing application, which did not support plugins, and we did not have time to rewrite it.• Design and implementation of pluggable XML schemas. The old application used XML schema as a type system for objects that make up clinical trial design. New system allows plugins to have their own schemas (i.e. define additional trial objects) that can be added to the application type system. (C#, XSD)• Design and implementation of pluggable templates for generating rule API allowing trial designers to write code snippets (rules) for custom logic in clinical trial (C#).• Sandboxing rule execution using .NET code access security (C#)

One of the interesting sub-projects was Rule subsystem: ability to customize behaviors of clinical trial with code snippets – rules, which can not only be executed in clinical trial, but also can be tested in design tool.
