I am an aerospace engineering junior at San Jose State University interested in gaining experience in the area of satellite and space mission development. In particular, I am enthusiastic about learning how to apply my strengths in creative problem solving and design into various applications.During my first year in San Jose State University, along with being a full-time student, I have participated in the L'SPACE Mission Concept Academy (MCA) last semester, in which I led a virtual engineering team as well as doing scientific research in order to contribute to the development of a preliminary design review of a rover mission concept headed to Mars to detect the presence of hydrated salts in Martian regolith. I enjoyed this experience so much that I applied for and became a member of the L'SPACE Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience Academy (NPWEE) for the Spring of 2022. In NPWEE I took the role of a Solidworks CAD specialist within a virtual team of 9 undergraduate student members in order to develop a proposal for a mirror system that blocks radiation while bringing sunlight into a lunar base to save electricity. Once submitted, we also gained experience reviewing other proposals using NASA guidelines while competing against other teams among a total of 34 teams consisting of 385 college students to win $10,000 for further development of the winning proposal.During the 2022-23 school year, I have been the industry contact officer for SJSU's AIAA chapter, where I organized various speaker events and industry tours at local aerospace companies, and also relayed other industry opportunities to AIAA members, so that they can be more involved in the aerospace community, and be better prepared for the aerospace workforce. As the industry contact, I also helped organize several virtual industry guest speaker events to help build networking skills, inspire new members, and build direct connections between students and the aerospace workforce. This year I have taken the role of the industry contact lead, where I am leading a team of four other industry contact officers help AIAA members form direct connections to the aerospace workforce.I am also interested in gaining internship experience centered around aerospace engineering. If you are made aware of any interesting projects or opportunities in the realm of satellite and space mission development, feel free to reach out to me at dmitry.kuklenko@sjsu.edu.

Nasa L'Space Nasa Proposal Writing And Evaluation Experience AcademyNasa - National Aeronautics And Space Administration Jan 2022 - Apr 2022I participated in the NASA L'SPACE Nasa Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience (NPWEE) Academy during the spring of 2022, where I was a CAD specialist in a team of nine passionate undergraduates and a subject matter expert, which worked together to develop a successful proposal of focusing natural light to light up future lunar bases. As a result of my participation in the academy, I have gained experience in writing technology proposals and reviewing them with NASA guidelines after submitting them. During the academy, my team and I competed against other teams among a total of 34 teams consisting of 385 college students to win $10,000 for further development of the winning proposal. -
Nasa L'Space Mission Concept Academy - Engineering LeadNasa - National Aeronautics And Space Administration Sep 2021 - Dec 2021I participated in the Mission Concept Academy during the fall of 2021, where I was working with a team of similar-minded people on an interesting mission concept of sending a lander to Mars to research the water and other organic molecules hidden beneath the regolith and rock of its surface. In my team, I was the leader of the engineering sub-team and a member of the science sub-team, and I learned the leadership skills that are needed to contribute to the design of a real mission concept. In MCA, I have obtained not only the knowledge of how to write preliminary design reviews to get a space mission into the process of making it real, but I also have more experience on how to work with a team in order to contribute to the development of a large-scale, long-term project.
