My research ranges from studies in normal subjects to studies in clinical patients and criminals, from studies on relationships between affect, behavior and autonomic control, between affect, behavior and hormones, between affect, behavior and immune processes; and between affect, behavior and brain activity, from laboratory to ambulatory and population studies. Ongoing and pending collaborative studies include: a) endophenotyping resilience (recovery and protection) level against psychosomatic disturbances associated with random (phenotype-independent) and non-random (phenotype-dependent) adverse events; b) development of non-invasive physiological procedures of endophenotype manipulation or reprogramming (neuroplasticity approach) c) central and peripheral baroreflex regulations of combined cardiovascular and affective processes, and mediation pathways of these relationships; d) effects of complex environmental contexts on different components of emotional responses including different elements of autonomic arousal, behavior, subjective sensations (including pain, cold, heat, fatigue, weakness), feelings (positive, negative and energy) and cognitive appraisals; e) searching for biomarkers and developing of respective procedures for evaluation of the integrated mental and physical health (general impairment or general health metrics) for better assessment of outcomes and comparison of effectiveness of health interventions.
