Mechanical Designer

Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

Accurate Fabricating is a successful heavy equipment manufacturer in Surrey, BC.I was hired primarily to take over the 3D scanning process which plays a key factor in designing accurate solutions for our customers. Post processes such as 3D model generation, reference point clouds, and pattern transfers were handled by me as well.In addition, I participated in the design, drafting, and quality assurance of hundreds of products through team collaboration and mechanical design using Computer-Aided Design, Version Control, Product Management applications, and regular inspections of the manufacturing process.Outside of my daily responsibilities:I was introduced to automation in the applications we used; unfortunately, our team had no software engineers. With my little experience with programming, I embarked on a new learning adventure that taught me how to automate many of the tedious, data entry, and data syncing tasks using event-based and user action scripts. The scripts I developed reduced the human errors in data entry and data syncing by 100% and increased the production rate of our department (engineering) by 40%. Most importantly, the automation scripts boosted morale, reduced frustration, and increased the daily smiles of each member of engineering.I also took on triaging and managing projects which meant I would compile all reference documentation and drawings we already had to prepare the person assigned to it for success. While in this role I pioneered the use of a shared kanban board application to increase everyone's awareness of the different stages each project was going through. Unfortunately, this idea wasn't successful as commitment died after a month. I learned a lot during my time at Accurate and through my work, I realized my passion and interest in software development. I wanted to tackle much more challenging tasks in computing and tech which led me to enroll in the Full Stack Web Development program at BCIT as its first cohort.

Director Of Operations

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Anirevo is the biggest Japanese Pop Culture convention in the greater Vancouver area.I believe that the reason why Anirevo is so successful is that it was built on a passion and the structure of a sports team. It's easier to name the things I didn't get to participate in at Anirevo but to highlight a few: Led a team of ten permanent and 200+ seasonal volunteers with the objective of efficiently executing general operational tasks and maintaining the satisfaction of customers and special guests.Participated in weekly executive meetings in which major decisions and year-round planning occurred.Developed training sessions, presentations, and manuals to guide volunteers and new staff hires.Interviewed and hired permanent and seasonal volunteers for the operations team.Assisted with operations, tech, retail, guest relations, and conflict resolution.I would highly recommend joining the Anirevo team and experiencing the positive impact each volunteer can bring to attendees of the conventions.

Aug 2014 - Aug 2019

Maker

Vancouver, Canada Area

Makerlabs is Vancouver's largest maker space. I first found out about Makerlabs while looking for help to laser cut some stamps. The expert fabricators helped me a lot since I knew nothing about laser cutting at the time. Their enthusiasm and expertise inspired me to ask about internship opportunities. While at Makerlabs I've picked up many fabrication skills such as laser cutting, CNC, woodworking, and metalworking. The highlight of my days was helping expert and novice clients solve their custom project needs through email, design files, and in-person interaction. Later in my internship I got to teach three-hour-long classes on welding, metalworking, and electronics.
