Building a universal servicing platform for scaling Fintechs.

We are building a new digital platform that engages patients, their families, and the full care team, throughout the entire health care life cycle. As a patient product engineering department, we look to improve access, navigation, payments, and outcomes by operating in communities, at clinics, at home, at work, and online. We partner across the enterprise with population health, clinical, and operations teams to bring novel experiences to our patients. TL;DR: our goal is to productize healthcare.slightly longer TL;DR: Imagine that when you looked for a primary care physician, or needed a referral, or needed to check some labs you had done three years ago, or needed to provide immunization records to an employer, or needed to help your aunt who doesn't speak English get an appointment, or needed to do a myriad other things that we do on a regular basis to ensure good healthcare for ourselves and others - that you could have as easy and pleasant of a time as when you shop on Amazon.

Designing, implementing and scaling the architecture of the Hatch platform.I designed and built the Golang backend which interfaced with a Postgres database and a React-based frontend via a RESTful API. We later added a BoltDB embedded database for high-throughput entities.I helped set up a combo scrum/agile approach as well as hire two more team members.

As the frontend team lead, I oversaw our frontend architecture and led a team within an agile environment. My contributions included making a case for and overseeing a migration from DynamoDB to Postgres, a transactional database well-suited for financial applications.

My responsibilities included building a point-of-sale frontend application using AngularJS. The backend consisted of a combination of new Go micro services and legacy PHP APIs that made communicating with the server interesting and challenging. Collaborated with a team in London via GitHub, HipChat, and Hangouts.

Startup Institute is an immersive full-time professional career accelerator that helps individuals develop the mindset and skills necessary to successfully launch into a career at a startup.

My PI and I studied the effects of the mother's nutrition during the perinatal period on her offspring's predisposition to adiposity and diabetes. Our hypotheses included epigenetic mechanisms and the microbiota in the gut. We worked with mice to test our hypotheses. My time was spent between the animal holding facility providing care and carrying out tests on the mice, and in the lab working with mouse tissue. The lab tasks involved isolating RNA from hypothalamic and other tissues, quantifying the RNA, running real-time PCR on the samples, assaying blood serum for various analytes, running electrophoresis gels and Western Blots, and other tasks as necessary.
