As a Naturalist at the National Wildlife Federation, I help interpret the natural world for the public. I do this through the media via television appearances, radio interviews, blog post and print articles. The ultimate goal is to inspire Americans to protect wildlife with the National Wildlife Federation.

The Expanded Second Edition of this award-winning how-to book will tell you how to "think globally, act locally" by creating a beautiful wildlife habitat garden that supports colorful songbirds and other wildlife. It is filled with plant lists and projects, and has now been updated to give new information on how to help bees, monarch butterflies and other.

I hosted a series called Pet Talk on NatGeo WILD, which explores the bond between pets and their owners. As a naturalist and wildlife expert, I helped viewers understand their pets through the lens of their wild ancestors, and vice versa. I also led segments on keeping wildlife safe from pets, exotic pets, and how domesticated animals impact wildlife.

I write articles for Birds and Blooms magazine, the leading wildlife gardening publication.

I wrote a blog called "Animal Oddities" from 2009-2014 that explored strange stories of the animal world and then contributed to Discovery's "Animal Bites" blog from 2014-2106 until the blog was discontinued. http://blogs.discovery.com/animal_oddities/

As host of the Backyard Habitat television series on Animal Planet, I helped walk homeowners through the journey of making over their yards and garden spaces into thriving habitat for local wildlife. The series was based on my how-to book "Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Backyard Wildlife" and the National Wildlife Federation's Garden for Wildlife.
