I worked with EMD Electronics in the Delivery Systems and Services group as a summer intern. In my time with the group, I had the privilege of leading our ½ inch DVB standardization project. My responsibilities included analyzing past equipment sales data, collaborating with product management to select standard options, creating a configurable 3D system model in SOLIDWORKS, reviewing the design for manufacturability with the factory team, and presenting project updates to upper management. My presentation was selected to be presented again to higher level management out of several summer interns in the company. Furthermore, I actively contributed to our component test lab, where I worked on tasks such as liquid manifold testing, pressure transducer failure analysis, and participating in a PLC system retrofit. At the conclusion of this internship, I was offered a full time position in the company following graduation.

As an intern with Thermo Fisher Scientific, I gained valuable insight into what it is like to work as a mechanical engineer. I joined the Commercial Engineering Team, where I was given an introduction of different forms of engineering documentation and preparation, like change controls, user requirement specifications, and system impact assessments. These documents were key to on-boarding machinery that would later need to be thoroughly tested and inspected. While my hands-on experiences were limited due to the team's scope and timeline during my time there, I still got to oversee several machines on-site in the production labs, as well as assist in line trial execution.
