David M. Jacobi, MSN, RN, CNL, CCRN, is a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Nurse Informaticist at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY. In this role, David leverages clinical data and health technology to improve patient care quality and outcomes for Veterans. He brings a deep understanding of both clinical practice and informatics, which he has developed through years of experience at various VA medical centers and in leadership roles.David began his nursing career as a critical care staff nurse at the Iowa City VA Medical Center and later as a critical care staff nurse and assistant nurse manager at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center. His journey into informatics began when he successfully managed the implementation of the ICU Electronic Health Record (EHR) at Robley Rex VAMC.David earned a Bachelor of Computer Science (BCSci) from the University of Minnesota, College of Science and Engineering, graduating with distinction, and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. Currently, he is enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, specializing in Nursing Informatics.David is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). His professional certifications include Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) and CCRN Critical Care certification. He was a member of the VISN 9 Leadership Institute 2024 cohort, the AMIA 10x10 VA Health Informatics Certificate Program 2020 cohort, graduated from Louisville’s Emerging Achievers in Development (LEAD) in 2017 and has completed LEAN Black-Belt Training.
