I joined IMI to rebuild their web development practice. In a short period of time team completed multiple long-running legacy projects, eliminated bad practices, such as "cowboy coding”, and completely changed web dev department workflow.In phase 1 we implemented proper project scoping, issue tracking (JIRA, WorkFront), code revision control with git. Software development lifecycle now includes previously missing steps: virtualized development sandbox, staging, formal quality assurance, user acceptance testing, code freeze, controlled release process.Phase 2 included major changes to sales and project discovery processes with focus on understanding of client’s needs and their strategic goals. These measures, as well as close collaboration with other departments on information architecture, user experience and UI development led to significant increase in product quality as well as customer satisfaction.
