He attended Westchester Community College and Oneonta State University studying Psychology. Dan began working in the health club industry in 1988 as a fitness instructor for Club Fit Jefferson Valley in Westchester County. At that same time he began working as a competitive gymnastics coach for boys and girls at Gymnastics City in Cortlandt Manor. In 1991 he received his ACE Personal Training certification and for the next 14 years, continued his personal training and gymnastics coaching. One of his gymnasts was awarded NYS Champion on the uneven bars in 1997 for Level 7. Additionally, Dan was promoted to Sports/Camp/After School Program Director for Club Fit Jefferson Valley in 2001, where he remained until 2005. During that time, Dan also attended and graduated from the IHRSA Institute for Executive Club Management at Babson College in 2002, as well as receiving his IHSRA Certification for Adolescent and Youth Conditioning. He was chosen to represent the Northeast Division for FitLinxx fitness trainers at the IHRSA Convention in San Francisco in 2000.
