Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Senior Manager of Maintenance and Construction is responsible for maintaining over $1.6 billion of capital assets including 115 school sites comprising of 250 buildings, eight million square feet of building space, and over 800 acres of school grounds.The position sets priorities for planned and unplanned maintenance and capital replacement work including life safety systems to provide the best possible learning environment to keep schools well maintained and operational efficient to serve a school community of 50,000 students and 8,000 staff.The position provides effective leadership, direction, and growth opportunities to managers and supervisors. Responsibilities include:- Overseeing the Department’s multi-million-dollar budgets and work for capital plan projects, annual facility-grant projects, carbon neutral action plan projects, building envelope, and safety enhancement plan projects.- Working with Ministry of Education staff, facilities and capital plan staff regarding budget. - Playing a key role in labour relations and negotiating committees, labour management.- Communicating daily with school administrators and senior management regarding high priority projects or resolving emergent maintenance issues. - Responding to queries regarding school issues, past practice or current procedures, safety procedures, cost estimates, budget issues, and policy issues.- Planning, estimating, and completing construction projects for change of use, additions, renovations, or altering existing space to allow required or desired school programs to operate.- Collaborating with other departments for major infrastructure projects including seismic mitigation or school replacement projects including setting building standards and reviewing documentation prior to tender.- Providing reports for the Board committees on building maintenance and capital planning either for advisement or decision making.

• Coordinate with production team to complete equipment repairs, and PM during opportunistic and scheduled downtime events;• Provide technical expertise on all matters of reliability engineering, assessment and monitoring for process equipment, including mechanical, electrical, instruments and PLC-control equipment;• Carry out reliability studies on existing equipment and recommend needed improvements to Production management in the areas of equipment philosophies, equipment strategies, equipment improvements and best practices for asset productivity and effectiveness;• Implement identified reliability improvement projects and other assigned equipment/site improvement projects from conception through start-up while following and completing site Management of Change Procedures;• Member of Process Safety Management Committee, with primary focus on Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance. Follow up on action items related to audits and inspections;• Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment “fitness for use” criteria and specifications to optimize equipment reliability, life cycle costs and spare parts inventory;• Lead activities and technical support for Quality Assurance and Quality Control, installation, and Start-Up Management (SUM) with vector for vertical start-ups of newly installed equipment;• Lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis for incidents with a suspected Mechanical/Electrical Integrity and Quality Assurance cause.
