President, CeoThe Daily-E Corporation Apr 2002 - Apr 2014The Daily-e Corporation was my technology playground – and one of my most successful ventures to date. Very few people get the opportunity to do what they love, at the time I founded The Daily-e, I loved nothing more than engineering elegant, robust, flawless software. (Yes, I said flawless!) Within the first year of operation, I grew the business from $0 to just over $2 million in annual revenue. We provided a diverse base of customers with world class software development services on the Microsoft platform. As the CEO, my responsibility was to innovate solutions that truly transformed our customers. Being a geek, I also defined the architecture, helped engineer the software, and developed code on all tiers (though I loved the data end of things!). I managed a dozen software engineers at our peak and mentored many to senior positions. Perhaps the most fun was exploring "sweat equity" opportunities with all the crazy smart entrepreneurs who had a billion dollar idea. I actually won a Microsoft BizSpark award for one of them!My customers included:• BMW • CoNeXus Software, Inc.• Medway, LLC• American Foundation for the Blind• The Seeing Eye, Inc.

Founder, CeoLivepalate, Inc. 2012 - 2012Yeah, OK - I am also a wine geek. So take software engineering and mix it with the wine industry and you get LivePalate. The plan was to connect wine enthusiasts with winemakers through live virtual tastings. We built the software, including a broadcast system and mobile apps for remote audience participation. We even completed a four episode pilot interviewing great wine makers including:• Giovanni Bertani• Douglas Lehman• Roberto DamonteWe signed up several retailers to broadcast the tastings but ultimately decided that the retail market was not yet ready for the solution. Perhaps someday!

Vice President, Web Application ServicesInterliant 2000 - 2002UsInterliant was a "roll-up" Internet Service Provider which focused primarily on hosting solutions. My company (The Daily-e Corporation) was acquired by them. We were the single most profitable business unit and I was integrated into the senior management team. My role was to innovate new web application services that could be sold to the hosting customers that were acquired. Unfortunately, the bubble burst and the burn rate was too high for this $200 million a year company to survive. Thankfully, I was well respected by the board and was able to re-acquire my company and return to the world of private ownership. I have lots of funny stories and many lessons learned from this experience. I am happy for every moment of it. -
Vice President, Information Technology ServicesOmnitech Corporate Solutions, Inc. 1994 - 1999I cut my teeth in technology consulting with Omnitech, a value added reseller and software development company serving the NY metro area. In my first year, I took over and built the software engineering department. I designed and developed a proprietary solution that enabled mirroring and remote fail-over control of file servers. The solution led to a $5 million investment from Intel Corporation. That investment allowed us to grow our business to approximately $20 million in annual sales. I was responsible for the delivery of all services. I managed a team of 50 engineers, including 6 brilliant practice managers. My client list included the best of the best in New York.

My responsibilities included:• Network Computing• Telecommunications • Software Development of Business Solutions• Strategic Planning of Information Technology• Developing Microprocessor Based Speech DevicesI remain associated with AFB and will continue to support them in their efforts to level the playing field for those suffering from vision loss.

Software EngineerM.W. Kellogg 1989 - 1991I was a software geek through-out high school and college. Upon graduating, I was recruited by M.W. Kellogg, a leading petrochemical design firm. I was recruited into a highly specialized group of software engineers and given the responsibility of leading an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program for the electrical engineering teams. In my first year, I developed four (4) Expert Systems for a variety of system engineering tasks. The solutions ultimately saved the company a substantial amount of money and preserved highly complex, specialized, knowledge for future generations of electrical engineers.
