About Daniela Narvaez
Passionate about community empowerment, advocacy, and peace building. My passion for working in humanitarian fields, comes from my dedication to social justice, equity, and inclusion. I am a Guatemalan first generation college student and an immigrant. I immigrated from my home country of Guatemala at six years old with my family and was so grateful to become a U.S. citizen in 2011. I really value giving back to communities and creating community spaces and have always had a passion for building this on a connected global scale. I completed my bachelors in International Security & Conflict Resolution with a specialization in Justice in the Global System and a minor in Spanish in 2022. I really enjoyed my internship experience at the San Diego Diplomacy Council where I learned about the ties between local and global connections and the amazing community work that occurs. I was also grateful to work at the Women's Resource Center not once but twice, at SDSU where I got to work with college students, and also was able to continue learning and educating about anti-racism, intersectional feminism, and social justice. I have served as an AmeriCorps member within higher education and student affairs alongside students at SDSU and it was an amazing experience to give back to the community that gave so much to me when I was an undergraduate student.

CurrentI am very excited to announce that I have officially started my new position as the Volunteer Coordinator for the office of Refugee Resettlement at Jewish Family Services of San Diego. Some of my duties will be coordinating dedicated volunteers that share their time and passion for giving back to our refugee communities. I will be overseeing the volunteers.
