I entered the real estate profession in 1987 and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1990. I have gained considerable experience in all aspects of Property and Asset Management and delivering estates strategies. I joined Dunlop Heywood in August 2011 as Head of Asset & Property Management.Before joining Dunlop Heywood, I was Estates Manager for Craegmoor Healthcare, where I was responsible for all aspects of estates matters on their portfolio of 370 care homes, offices, independent hospitals, colleges and day care centres.Previous to that I was Head of Estates at Bradford & Bingley plc where I was responsible for all estates matters and planning and delivering the asset management plan.Some noteable highlights have been:•Acquisition of 3 healthcare businesses in 2010 with a total value of £25m.•Developed and implemented procedures for the management of the Group’s Supported Living Estate.•Developed and delivered an Asset Management Strategy that released £18m in sale proceeds.•Led, planned and executed a Sale & Leaseback strategy that maximised sale proceeds of £60m.•Completed an innovative £40m property deal that disposed of significant surplus leasehold estate via a SPV.•Directed effective relationships with all external parties, including negotiation of rent reviews, lease renewals, acquisition and disposal of land and buildings, and appointed and led property agents, surveyors and lawyers. •Integrated in 1999 B&B, estate agency and John Charcol estates functions and, in 2004, managed the transfer of c.500 properties as part of the sale of these businesses. •Developed and implemented new property databases and departmental procedures.•Developed and managed an annual accommodation charge to re-charge property costs to business units.•Put in place a strategy to understand risks across the estate by appointing and leading consultants to undertake annual condition surveys and risk assessments.Specialties: I am an accomplished, innovative and commercially aware senior property manager with a proven track record of controlling cost and risk, creating income streams, and releasing equity from property to reinvest in the business by developing and delivering estates strategies that meet the objectives of the business.
