Extensive experience across a broad range of finance-related transactions with an emphasis on senior bank debt and syndicated loan finance, including corporate and commercial lending arrangements for secured and unsecured transactions, cross border credit facilities for foreign borrowers and foreign currencies, acquisition financing for strategic buyers and financial sponsors, subordinated debt transactions and first and second lien financing, dividend recap and bankruptcy-exit financing, credit support for variable rate demand note (VRDN) or “low floater” bond programs in connection with industrial development revenue bonds, and work-out and restructure. Specialized industry experience with financial sponsors, healthcare, REIT’s and sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and MiLB). Representations mostly for large banks and bank groups, but also some borrower-side representations for public and private borrowers.Since joining the firm, it has grown from about 60 lawyers to almost 300 and the financial services practice group has grown from about six lawyers to more than fifty. The firm and financial services practice group worked closely with NCNB and NationsBank, predecessors to Bank of America, as it started and built a loan syndication group. The financial services practice group was able to grow with the bank to become a nationally recognized leader in syndicated loan finance consistently appearing near the top of the national league tables for syndicated loan transaction representations (number one nationally in 2008 and 2011). Representative clients include Bank of America, Wells Fargo Bank, PNC Bank, BB&T, Regions Bank and SunTrust Bank.Licensed in North Carolina.
