As a Junior Resident Doctor under the Dept of Orthopaedics, my roles and responsibilities involved the following:•OPD duties, where patients, with various musculoskeletal illness, were interviewed, examined and treated appropriately; did application of various immobilizing POP slabs and casts on a case-to-case basis•Accidents and Emergency duties, where I was posted in the Trauma Bay and involved in triaging of Trauma cases of various natures appropriately, carrying out primary and secondary survery, acquiring history, quick but efficient physcial examination, applying immobilization if required, requesting necessary radiology imaging and establishing a working diagnosis and providing appropriate treatment independently.•Ward Duties, which involved discussing treatment plans with consultants and seniors and carrying them out diligently, managing emergencies should they arise, carrying out pre-op orders and preparing patients for their surgeries, post-op patient care including but not limited to post-op wound dressing, pain management, coordinating with physiotherapist and occupational therapists to bring back functional use of the limb as early as possible post-op.•Assisted in Orthopedics Surgeries such as ORIF with k-wire fixation, ORIF with TBW fixation, ORIF with PHILOS plating, Laminectomy and discectomy, Corrective Osteotomies, Carpal Tunnel Release, Bipolar Hemiarthroplasty, Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee Replacement and so on.Patient care provided while following Departmental guidelines and Good Medical Practice.

Worked as a Junior Resident Doctor in the Dept of Pediatrics.Roles and responsibilities included but were not limited to:•OPD duties, which involved history taking and physical exam of the presenting child, prescription of the appropriate treatment independently, counseling parents of the children when appropriate and providing vaccinations to children according to the National Immunization Schedule •Emergency Room duties, which involved managing both urgent and emergency care Pediatric patients, unwell from Gastroenteritis, Acute Febrile illnesses, Acute Asthma exacerbation, Foreign Object Aspiration, Seizures and so on.•Ward and ICU duties, which encompassed providing holistic care for patients admitted under the Pediatric department, performing procedures such as IV cannulations, NG tube insertion, venipuncture for the purposes of lab tests.Patient care provided in accordance with Departmental guidelines and Good Medical Practice.

As the Resident Medical Officer in this institution, was assigned 12hour shifts and had the responsibility of taking patients in and carrying out preliminary admission orders, making sure consultant orders were carried out and patient care was provided with the utmost diligence, managing emergencies in the wards, recognising critically ill patients in the ward and transferring the said patient's care to the ICU team if and when required and occasionally participating in medical camps organized by the hospital.All of the above and much more was contributed while adhering to Hospital Guidelines and Good Medical Practice

Various roles and responsibilities included but were not limited to taking comprehensive medical and surgical histories and thoroughly examining patients presenting to the hospital, performing procedures such as venipuncture for lab tests, IV cannulations, NGT insertions, urinary catheter insertions, ABG sampling, POP cast and back slab application in cases with fractures and suturing of lacerated wounds and dressing of wound with sterile precautions and so on, and observing and assisiting senior doctors in more invasive procedures such as intubation, bone marrow aspiration, thoracocentesis, ascitic tap, and so on.
