About Adrian Hayter

I have worked as a family Doctor for over 25 years directly involved in the delivery and leadership of both in and out of hours care. I am passionate about the role of Primary care in planing and improving the Health of Communities and believe that GPs need to be involved and leading healthcare systems. I have developed my leadership skills participating in the Kings Fund Collaborative Leadership programme as well as the NHS Leadership Academy Top Leaders Programme. I am the cofounder of the 2020 Leadership programme which started in the Frimley Health and Care System and has spread to other Integrated Care Systems across England. I have held local, regional and national roles working in NHS England as the 'National Clinical Director for Older People and Integrated Person Centred Care' between 2019 and 2024. In 2023 I supported the Chief Medical Officer in developing his annual report 'Health in an Ageing Society'. I am currently Medical Director for Clinical Policy at the Royal College of General Practitioners and hold several advisory roles to other organisations. I am a mentor on the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme and a founding board member of the Frimley Academy. I have been working with the WHO as a member of the Clinical Consortium for Healthy Ageing as well as the Long Term Care Programme and have worked internationally supporting health systems in strategic planning for integration and the ageing population.
