You won't see much about me on LinkedIn. To know me better, come to my space at the link below. Be upfront. Do you want to know more about me? Ask The Dock. It’s about more than working on just one brand. It’s even about more than just working on computers. It’s about having a knack for knowing how every technology works, and applying a rational troubleshooting process; and not a checklist or decision tree to diagnose and repair it. Since childhood I’ve had a passion for computers and technology. As an adoptee; even in my single digits, watching the Apollo program, I knew that if those gadgets could get our astronauts to the moon and back home again, they could help me get home to my biological family someday. And almost 40 years after I had those thoughts, they did.I've worked on computers since they first became widely available in the consumer market. In 1977 when I worked on my first Apple II at the tender age of 12 years, I was hooked! How do I compete with Geek Squad and with local computer techs and service providers?I don't. Anybody can go do a quick fix and make a computer run ok for a little while. I baseline every computer. I work entirely in my lab, from my home. Often, a repair can be fixed via remote session, but many times, a proper repair means a drop-off and an overnight stay. That is how I keep my prices competitive and my work volume high, but still maintain a 1-day turnaround in almost every case. A computer cannot be base-lined, set up and thoroughly tested in a few hours. Proper stress-testing, setup of actual conditions, etc. takes time. It requires working at the pace of the computer.I require appointments for one-on-one time with each customer. This maintains privacy and security in sensitive situations. It allows me to watch the customer put the computer through its paces the way they will be using it. It allows me to make the computer fit the customer's work behaviors, rather than forcing a customer to change a work pattern to fit the computer.I do not compete with locals either. I like to keep relationships with those I trust. When I am covered up it's always better to refer the less critical, simpler work to someone I trust. It's all about getting the customer back up and running.Anyone can keep a computer running. I keep the computer, the customer, their life and their business working together.Find out more at my website: https://dockvickers.com/tv-coverage-and-stuff/~ Dock 512.648.1506dockharrisonvickers@gmail.com
