Teaching Dance Kinesiology, Care and Prevention of Dance Injuries and Embodied ThoughtMy courses in the Dance Science certificate area give students an opportunity to investigate ideas about biomechanics, kinesiology, physiology and motor learning and control as they relate to dance. We consider the data behind the dance, and how these things might impact performance, teaching and composition. We also look at the big picture implications for the place of dance in a world where the human motor repertoire is all at once threatened and facilitated through the use of technology.

What happens to my right hand when I think about the left? What happens in the brain when the motor plan and our body's sense of position is trying to deal with more than one limb? This is the stuff I am trying to figure out.

Researcher in the Accelerated Learning and Retention ProgramWe are exploring how people actually learn, and what we might be able to do to make that learning quicker and more permanent. We are exploring questions about how and when to use technology and special learning spaces to enhance learning, as well as developing evidence-based approaches for understanding what kind of learning has taken place.I am currently collaborating with University of Toronto Engineering students to create a mobile, technologically rich classroom environment. We are scientifically validating each of the tools in the suite to determine its impact for learning and retention in courses within the Canadian Forces.I am collaborating with our research counterparts in New Zealand to evaluate current models for assessing skill competency, including a predictive model that would give the capacity to anticipate the competencies required for an as-of-yet un-invented technologies or processes.

Taught Traditional Thai Massage, Anatomy, and advanced massage practice. I also designed and taught a custom massage form to the spa staff at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Manhattan.

Taught two courses: Methods of Youth Ministry and Small Group Communications. The two courses focused on the pragmatic aspects of interacting with youth in a not-for-profit environment, with an emphasis on youth worker skill development through an exploration of the principles of pedagogy and classroom management.
