AF/A3Q is the operational lead for the SECAF and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations to support programs that protect critical AF technologies, capabilities, and tactics. A3Q supports the Combatant and MAJCOM Commanders’ needs to maintain the strategic advantage for the joint warfighter and protect AF equities by conducting studies across a variety of technical and military operational issues.

Led Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning integration project from conception to realization for Cyber National Mission Force to Defend the Nation. Built partnerships with 10 intelligence agencies, academia institutions, and industry partners.

Kept the Cyber National Mission Force (CNMF) Commander organized, informed, and prepared to defend the nation through full-spectrum information warfare.

Led planning of cyber Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) for the 3.3 trillion dollar F-35 Lightning II joint and coalition fighter aircraft acquisition program. Coordinated with Office of Secretary of Defense, Secretary of Air Force, Joint Staff, Air Staff, Major Command, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Research Lab, and other agencies. The United States Operational Test Team (UOTT) tests and evaluates new capabilities in operationally realistic environments to inform warfighters and influence national resource decisions for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

Lead, train, instruct, and mentor a small team of elite cyberspace security professionals in threat-emulation, assessment, and penetration testing missions as part of an NSA accredited DoD Red Team. Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on Russian Cyber tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs). Officer in charge (OIC) of unit Standardization and Evaluation shop. Provide oversight for daily Red Team operations and the conduct of research into emerging vulnerabilities and exploitation vectors. Conduct strategic cybersecurity planning to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of Red Team deployment. Assist senior leadership with cybersecurity planning to facilitate effective distribution of scarce cybersecurity resources. Coordinate with Red Team customers to gather requirements and define objectives. Design and document repeatable Red Team processes to reduce administrative churn and maximize efficiency. Develop innovative ways to foster the adoption of cybersecurity best-practices across the Air Force.

Advise and assist the commander on all issues concerning the readiness, mission effectiveness, career development, health, morale, welfare and quality of life for a diverse group of 300 cyberspace professionals in accomplishing the squadron’s mission: to produce effects for the Air Force and Combatant Commanders in, through and from cyberspace by employing synchronized cyber defense operations to detect, respond to, and prevent cyber intrusions. Responsible for 10 total force personnel for screening calls; managing calendars; making travel, meeting and event arrangements; preparing reports and financial data; training and supervising other support staff; and customer relations. Sensitivity to confidential matters highly required. Requires flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as external leadership, clients, and vendors.

Responsible for proactive defense, incident response, digital forensics, and Defensive Counter Cyber (DCC) for the $14 billion Air Force Information Network. Interprets intelligence for cyber threats; collaborates with internal and external agencies for real-time resolution. Directs defensive cyber operations for 10 MAJCOMs/385 sites/800K+ systems against cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and adversary TTP. Leads and mentors a team of analysts, coordinating incident response efforts and supporting the Director of Operations. Actively shapes the way the AF performs cyber security operations. Plays key role in refining, implementing and identifying new processes, technologies and solutions. Uses experience gained during incident investigations as well as malware and exploit analysis to contribute to the development of endpoint-based indicators of compromise. Acts as the primary communications conduit to senior leadership on technical questions. Identifies and pursues strategic and complex areas of security research in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, to include defining policies, practices, and countermeasures.

Responsible for leading a 14-member team in developing tactics, techniques, and procedures to block malicious actions on the Air Force network (AFnet) for 10 Major Commands, 385 sites, with more than 910K unique information systems. Identifies system vulnerabilities, and designs and deploys solutions that support a high availability system. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk assessments, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for computer security products and systems. Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. Analyze and improve on commercially available solutions. Supervises and directs computer programmers. Understands and identifies new vulnerabilities and attack vectors to actively hunt for threats. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Confers with senior leadership regarding system vulnerabilities and recommends remediation.

Assesses electromagnetic interference (EMI) impacts on 26 military and commercial satellite/network systems for the Joint Space Ops Center (JSpOC). Develops real-time resolution/mitigation for electromagnetic interference (EMI) in order to provide assured C2 access to space services. Accomplishes real-time coordination with various United States Government agencies and Department of Defense to monitor, characterize, geolocate, and eliminate EMI. Resolves resource allocation conflicts assuring world-wide warfighter access to over $80B in key space assets. Briefs 3-Star on enemy tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP).

Advises and assists the 14th Air Force Command Chief Master Sergeant on all issues concerning the readiness, mission effectiveness, career development, health, morale, welfare and quality of life for a diverse group of over 20,000 space professionals in accomplishing the NAF’s mission: to control and exploit space for global and theater operations. Performs administrative duties for executive management. Responsible for 7 total force personnel for screening calls; managing calendars; making travel, meeting and event arrangements; preparing reports and financial data; training and supervising other support staff; and customer relations. Serves as Protocol Liaison for 14th AF senior leadership.
