T-cracia is a project based on a web application that monitors Politics on Twitter, aiming to get useful insights from analyzing the gathered data. It presently records hourly measures for over 600 spanish parties and politicians.http://t-cracia.infoI am one of the co-founders of the project and responsible for the application development.The application is built on a diverse and complementary set of technologies:- NodeJS in the backend. For implementing the daemon processes that query and fetch data from the Twitter API and for serving the REST API, the single-page web app and content.- AngularJS in the front-end.- D3js for interactive visualizations, embedded as directives within AngularJS.- Relational database (PostgreSQL) for the static curated content related to parties, politicians, events.- NoSQL database (MongoDB) for the dynamic data gathered from the Twitter API. - Redis cache for the app's REST API.- Django, primarily for its admin interface, driving the PostgreSQL database.- Pandas (Python Data Analysis Library) for helping with off-line data analysis. - Programming languages: mainly Javascript both in the front and back-end, pervasively used in a functional way. Python, for the auxiliar systems (static content administration with Django and data analysis with Pandas). We are seriously considering implementing some selected new features in Clojure.
