Greenhouse Gases & Wastewater Treatment & Sour Water Stripping Senior Environmental Process Engineer
CurrentI managed the operation of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 32,400 m³/day with a team of 27 people. Currently, I am optimizing the processes of the same wastewater treatment plant. During this time, we achieved up to 30% savings by applying various chemical optimizations in the field. Additionally, since 2017, I have recovered at least 15 million m³/year of water from the system. I also prevented discharge limit exceedances.I am responsible for the process of the refinery's three Sour Water Stripping Units. The total operational capacity of the Sour Water Units is 120 m³/h. Through optimization of the steam amount provided to the column, we achieved savings equivalent to USD 60K/year in natural gas annually.Since 2020, I have been reporting greenhouse gas emissions to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. Additionally, I perform ISO 14064/1-2-3 calculations based on categories. I report to the Turkish Statistical Institute. I conduct refinery-based calculations every month and report to the General Directorate. I am responsible for the coordination of the process and units. As part of sustainability efforts, I have been a member of the greenhouse gas management team. Currently, I am a member of the "Water Opportunities" team. Our goal is to achieve all water savings across the refinery through agile practices without additional investment. In a workshop conducted across the refinery in 2024, we generated 150 ideas. I am involved in the process of evaluating each idea.I manage the operations of 4 Hydrocarbon Flare Systems, 2 Acid Gas Flare Systems, Fuel Gas Optimizations, and the recovery of flare gas across the refinery. I also conduct load assessment studies for the flares. Additionally, I am evaluating the process of the newly established Vapor Recovery system.
