He prepared the first porous Si samples that went into live rabbit eyes and assisted with the first human eye experiments, demonstrating the possibility of using such materials in intraocular drug delivery. This concept is now being actively pursued in many academic and pharmaceutical labs worldwide. Do is a hard worker and he picks up on concepts quickly. He has a solid sense of personal integrity, and I could always trust his results. Due to his strong interpersonal skills, I asked Do to take on the role of “group coordinator” toward the end of his time in my lab. His duties included coordinating the scheduling of group meetings, arranging occasional group parties, and keeping tabs on various laboratory supplies and equipment. Do performed in this role very effectively. He has excellent presentation skills, and gave several well-received talks at local and international meetings as well as in my weekly research group meetings."
