About Dan Olds

Dan Olds is a Vice President of Alumni Relations and Information Systems at Bowdoin College. He possess expertise in higher education, international education, student affairs, nonprofits, intercultural communication and 21 more skills. He is proficient in Mandarin. Colleagues describe him as "I had the opportunity to work with Dan at CIEE. He had been managing the operations of various regions for a number of years, with emphasis in Asia. He came into a newly-created position for Alumni Relations and developed the plan and team needed to build our relationships with prior alumni. Given we were different from a college/university, the key was to create relationships that encouraged others to study abroad. We also found ways to leverage those experiences abroad into new networks, programs, and career opportunities. Dan planned out the communications approach and digital storytelling, the technical/system support, and created an summer alumni internship program. Dan was involved in all aspects as it was a small, but mighty team that he managed (growing to three in four years). He was creative and a problem solver and consistently met deadlines and his budget. Within 18 months we went from having limited knowledge of our alumni to having current contact information of over 250k. Plus outreach/communications yielded over 20% response rates and alumni networking events began popping up organically around the globe.", "Dan is everything that you could want in a professional colleague, team leader, and friend. I had the good fortune of supervising Dan at Colby College as he transformed that institution's strategic approach to engaging with its alumni. Dan uses his vast data sets of real-world experience and combines these attributes with his 'zen-filled calm in the face of any storm' leadership style to effectively manage groups (large and small), planning processes, events, you name it. Dan is the consummate team player and will always roll up his sleeves to tackle all duties as assigned (or as he anticipates before they are assigned) but his best professional qualities are on display when he is called on to lead and solve complex strategic planning challenges. He is an absolute star that I cannot endorse or recommend more highly.", and "Dan is a creative and dynamic leader in the area of institutional engagement. He is a caring and astute listener, able to meet the needs of his constituents while also furthering the mission of the organization. He is a team player with a strong work ethic and great sense of humor. His commitment to a job well done is evident and makes an impact."

Listed skills include Higher Education, International Education, Student Affairs, Nonprofits, and 22 others.
