Assistant Principal
An opportunity arose to move to the Leander District. I enthusiastically became the 6th Grade Assistant Principal as well as the LPAC Chair at Danielson Middle School. I happily lead grade level team meetings, participate in Professional Learning Communities for ELA across the campus, am a part of the decision making process within the Cabinet team for campus wide improvements, meet regularly with District members to implement small tweaks within our systems and processes that will have a large impact, and work closely with teachers to support their practice. I handle any and all behavior challenges that arise as well as partner with families to ensure their child’s success. I work with our Dual Language Coordinator to support both teachers in students in their academic journey. You will also find me at any school event ready to cheer on our amazing students or dressed up at our themed dances.
Assistant Principal
Pursued my first role as an administrator and had the honor of being the 6th and 7th Grade Assistant Principal. Instructional Coaching along with Behavioral Coaching were my top two priorities when working directly with teachers. I worked closely with the Math and Science Department by analyzing data to implement strategies that would improve student outcomes. Through daily Professional Learning Communities, I led teachers through role playing exercises, Kagan Strategies, AVID look fors, and Creative Learning Initiative ideas. My organization skills were sharpened while upholding various academic support roles: MAP Coordinator, 504 and TELPAS Coordinator, and AP Testing Coordinator. While building relationships with students and their families, it brought me the most joy in participating in all school events. Learned how to manage a school budget, what a partnership with local law enforcement looks and sounds like, how to respond to any situation that may arise, what deescalation techniques are the best suitable per reaction, and how to deliver whole school professional development.
Bilingual Teacher
After coming back from Seattle, with the goal of obtaining my Masters in Educational Leadership, I became the Self-Contained 4th Grade Bilingual Teacher. Taught half day in Spanish and second half in English, teaching all subjects. As the Grade Level Team Lead, I facilitated meetings, ensured alignment and, ensured that all team members felt safe, seen, heard, and valued. As the Sunshine Committee Chair for the school, I planned school wide events for the community as well as team building gatherings to provide opportunities for all stakeholders to have a sense of belonging. The Sunshine Committee also created monthly themed treats, games, and small ways to share joy throughout the week. As the MAP Coordinator, I provided professional development sessions for teachers to learn how to best proctor the exam as well as ways to create buy-in from students on their growth as a collective. As the Professional Learning Community Lead, I created an agenda that had us look back and look forward on the student work and data from the strategies we were implementing. I was also proudly one of the CLI Ambassadors who was elevating and motivating others to use creative strategies within their teaching practice for the betterment of the students. During this time, I also created Bath Math With Ms. Diaz episodes on YouTube to teach math when the pandemic changed our reality. I recorded episodes from the tub using my nephew's white board, decorated with painted bubbles, and wore shower caps that the students would vote on to get their attention. I was a 2021 Life Changer Nominee.
Teaching Team Lead
Worked closely with an amazing team each summer to provide the best educational experiences with a camp twist to students. We fundraised, connected with the community, built connections, and brought experiences to the students that were unique and creative. From swim lessons to project based learning and playing all kinds of games or sports.. nothing but 6 weeks of happiness every time. The love for the students was oozing out of every stakeholder involved.

Helped found a brand new charter middle school in Seattle, WA. Worked closely with a dedicated and passionate team to generate aligned systems, uphold high expectations and meet all students’ needs. Formed a Student Council that plans school-wide events, records weekly episodes of the RVLA News, fundraises and puts together the yearbook. Implementing ideas, goals, incentives and joy into the 6th Grade ELA curriculum as well two 7th Grade Social Studies classes. Spearheaded the school’s testing growth in MAP by creating individual students trackers, incentives, resources, games and celebrating their progress along the way.
Spanish Lead First Grade Teacher
Collaborated weekly with grade level team to create, implement and assess academically rigorous lesson plans. Effectively developed and applied creative ideas to fulfill a variety of needs and circumstances. Provided a warm, supportive environment for developing academic, social and emotional growth.
