My logistics career began in 2001 in the mailroom of The Shaw Group, a Fortune 500 engineering, procurement, and construction company. I spent the next ten years cutting my teeth in far corners of the Middle East and other international locales in various roles, all of which inevitably required solving logistics problems. In 2011, I co-founded Marex Services with the goal of addressing an industry pain-point which was the lack of a centralized, single source platform to locate vessel capacity in the Gulf of Mexico. To achieve this, our team developed a tech platform called the maritime exchange, hence the name “Mar-ex”, which delivered a more efficient way for shippers and carriers to transact, and thus a more seamless way to ship freight. Today, Marex Services operates as a tech-enabled service provider of managed transportation, freight (air, ocean road) and technology. In 2013, I co-founded Fila-Mar Energy Services as a first-mile proppant logistics company, but after experiencing pain points in the last mile and throughout the supply chain, I led the establishment of a trucking business unit to gain better control of the last-mile supply chain and transformed our operations by developing a new technology that would bring visibility and automation to the last mile in a way that had never been done before. We brought this technology to market under the name PropDispatch. As a result of these innovations, Fila-Mar has grown to be a full-service trucking, technology, and shipping provider with expertise handling the transportation, storage, and delivery of time-sensitive commodities from point-of-origin to the well-head. Stood up Shaw’s office in Kabul, Afghanistan, and managed the in-country team. Served as capture team leader on bids and proposals for infrastructure, defense, emergency response, and consulting services. Delivered contract backlog to Fortune 500 company through awarded contracts.
