2012 was a difficult year.Our youngest daughter, Gabby was born in 2008 with a rare genetic condition called Microvillous Inclusion Disease which meant she could not absorb nutrients in the normal way and had to rely on an intravenous drip to provide all her nutrition and fluids. We managed her condition at home and gave her the best life we could even though she spent a lot of time in hospital. There is no cure for Gabby's condition and her best chance was an intestinal transplant.In March 2012 we got the call to say an organ was available. Although the operation went well, Gabby didn't respond as well as the doctors would have hoped. We spent most of the next 7 months in hospital. During her short stays at home Gabby had some of her happiest times and got to do things that she'd never had the opportunity to do before.Heartbreakingly, Gabby died on the 23rd October 2012. She was 5 days short of her 4th birthday.We will always miss her desperately but know she's a true angel now.
