David D. S. Silva obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), Brazil, in 2018 and 2020, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Brazil, in 2024. From 2023 to 2024, he was a visiting researcher at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) at the Colorado School of Mines (Mines), USA. His research interests focus on the design of advanced alloys with superior properties, including strength, elongation, and damage tolerance, from the atomic to the macro scale, considering synthesis and processing techniques; advanced and in-situ characterization of metallic materials using electron microscopy techniques (SEM and TEM) and synchrotron X-ray diffraction at national user facilities; and improving the physical understanding of the relationships between microstructure, processing, properties, and performance in metallic alloys. He serves as an editorial board member of Materials Today Communications and has reviewed over 60 manuscripts for various reputable journals. Silva can be reached via email at davidsilva@ufscar.br.
