Over five years my research focus was on redox biochemistry and I worked with important oxidoreductase proteins from pathogenic bacteria, such as: I - Organic Hydroperoxide Resistance proteins, performing phylogenetic studies, structural, kinetical and functional characterization, drug design and in vitro tests of compounds; II -Thioredoxin/thioredoxin reductase system (Trx/TrxR), performing in vitro tests of potential inhibitor compounds; III - Peroxiredoxins (1-Cys Prx) collaborating in the structural characterization. In total I solved 10 crystallographic structures and identified 5 inhibitor compounds (2 for Ohr and 3 for TrxR). I am a collaborator in six different projects and apart from my main manuscript and the two already published articles, I am expecting to be co-author in, at least, five more scientific articles. Moreover, I extensively worked with molecular biology techniques, enzyme kinetics, crystallography, computational molecular dynamics (MM and hybrid QM-MM), among other techniques.
