A Marine Conservation, Research and Education Charity www.nationallobsterhatchery.co.ukSince joining as Chief Executive in 2005 the charity has grown from one that was struggling to keep its head above water, into a national brand that is rapidly growing its outputs and supporting business base. In 2014 the Charity seeded over 50,000 juvenile lobsters into the local fishery as part of its industrial engagement programme, it published numerous papers and began an outreach programme.My role at the NLH consists of:Setting Policy and budget and overseeing the multifaceted charitable and business operations of the organisation and reporting to the board of trustees & directors.Developing and implementing strategic development plans to facilitate the growth of both the organisations charitable contributions and its supporting business base.Establishing and co-ordinating a Scientific Committee to guide, inform and develop the Charity’s research and educational programmes and creating appropriate strategic alliances with Higher Educational Institutions, Research Institutions and other key organisations. Overseeing research, R&D projects, developing the Charity’s IP portfolio, co-supervising numerous PhD, MSc and BSc students and contributing to MSc level courses.Being the public face for the organisation at every level, representing the Charity at conferences, events and through the mainstream and popular media. Raising funds and developing a fundraising strategy to ensure the continued delivery and development of the organisations charitable objectives.All human resources issues within the organisation including recruitment, health and safety, and implementation of a programme of continual development. This has included the development of a supportive volunteering programme.Implementing a QA protocol and ensuring the highest standards are maintained throughout the Charity’s operation.
