I am currently volunteering with the UAE dolphin project in Dubai which is great opportunity in marine research and conservation worked at Shamwari game reserve in South Africa for 3 months .Actively involved in the daily aspects of conservation management of a private game reserve. This included game monitoring, tracking research, reserve rehabilitation, eco education, animal rehab, the Born Free Foundation and community projects e.g., working with local school children teaching them about animal conservation.I have been unable to return to South Africa due to global pandemic I am currently staying in Dubai with my parents. I have been working as a volunteer on the UAE dolphin project. I assist the research team to collect scientific data in the boat based transect surveys. The aim of the research is to estimate species occurrence, population size and habitat use of local dolphin populations. The boat surveys covered the Dubai coastline to the borders with the Abu Dhabi Emirate.It has been a great opportunity to gain knowledge in visual dolphin surveying and get hands-on field experience in relation to survey techniques, data collections, photo- identification, behavioral observations, and improve practical skills.
