This was a great opportunity to be one of the first several employees in Dubai for an international company who are the largest seller on Amazon.com and top 3 seller globally on all Amazon marketplaces. The main focus of the role was to grow brands on both Amazon and Noon marketplaces. This meant implementing and reviewing marketplace strategy, product commercials, digital marketing, demand planning, forecasting, running promotions for key trading periods and account management. Due to the small team, I’ve had the chance to be involved in many more parts of the business. With my extensive experience in business development and commercials, I've helped bring new brands from both the US and UK to the UAE.

This role allowed me to use both my knowledge and passion for the sports supplements category. I had a big focus on business development, commercials and account management. I worked with some of the largest sports nutrition companies across the UK and Europe. Due to my extensive e-commerce and marketplace knowledge, I also helped with marketplace strategy and how brands should be positioned.

My role at Kcal was to set up their Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements division. I was involved in many parts of the business such as Profit and Loss Statements (P&L), forecasts, product commercials, business development, project management, contracts, digital marketing, demand planning, product development and sourcing manufacturers. Being part of a larger organisation meant I had various teams and departments to support. This was a great opportunity, which allowed me to build on all my knowledge and to understand how a larger business operates.

Being the solo founder meant I handled everything, I had to be both resourceful and resilient as most things were new to me. This was one of the toughest but most rewarding parts of my career as it gave me a crash course in launching and running a business. Some of the key areas included product development, commercials, forecasts, digital marketing, sourcing manufacturers and everything else associated with running a business. Whilst trying to raise a funding round, the business was acquired by Kcal - the largest health food company in the UAE. This was a great personal achievement.
