About Dominik Windey

Physicist and enthusiast for data science with knowledge on machine learning and big data platforms. Currently broadening and deepening my data engineering expertise at SNB. During my research as a PhD in electrical engineering I designed and built complex optical setups in high vacuum systems to levitate and manipulate nanoparticles. The work consisted of hardware automation as well as the development of models to describe the interaction of the levitated nanoparticle with its environment.Prior to my PhD I worked as a process engineer in nanofabrication and developed a production database interface written in Python and Qt which can be used to register fabrication steps and analyse measurements from quality control.

The field of optomechanics focusses on the interaction of mechanical and optical degrees of freedom. As part of my PhD I try to bring a nanometer sized sphere, levitating in vacuum, into the quantum mechanical ground state.
