On my first year of my two years DFDS Shipping & Logistics programme I have spent time working in Dover, UK. This one year experience working in the shipping industry was truly amazing, Dover being as one of the busiest ferry port's across Europe - it really gave me a picture on how strong and important shipping industry is in our world. My main responsibilities were running and managing different value optimization projects for the 6 vessels going from Dover to Dunkerque and Calais. Having 54 departures a day, - really shows on how important it is to keep up with the market demands and competition, therefore looking for optimisation and business development solutions it gave me a broad understanding and knowledge in this part of the industry. Nevertheless I have not only got a chance to apply my theoretical knowledge to the business but also have developed as a person, got a lot of insights from my managers and a possibility to run high level projects made me to interact with almost everyone working in the business. Tasks/Projects done:1. Project Manager for Food & Beverage Stock Management project. Creating a new process of the products flow on Business Management Software, outlining the daily margins for the outlets and therefore bringing more visibility by generating performance reports.2. Retail Stock Management - looking for solutions describing the stock units in the stores and bringing more structure by categorising the products and applying different strategies for its handling.3. Managing the Data Management centralisation project - drawing up the current state of the data flow, analysing its processes, coming up with the standard structure on describing the items on the ERP system, ensuring the data integrity and turning the local data management into a centralised global management.

During my internship at “Altas Commercial Transport”, Lithuania I have been working on a ERP implementation project by focusing on milestone processes in production oriented Canias ERP software (Bills of Materials, Routings, Product configurator etc.). The exceptional work was of key importance connecting Sales/Product/Engineering/Material Purchasing/Manufacturing modules into a highly integrated system. Project’s complexity and importance was at a very high level including practices from Sales, Purchasing, Value Chain Optimization, Marked oriented Supply Chain and Flow Management. Since all of the resource planning before implementing an ERP system were held on the shared Excel sheets, it gave me a broad understanding of Excel including the different functions, macro’s while converting the technical cards used for the customized production into an automated ERP system.
