id3as provides Software Defined Media Workflows for Broadcasters developing IP based Video and Audio platforms.id3as is a foundry for new technology and development not only within the area of streaming, but also applying the teams skills and expertise in the real time data distribution and cloud / virtualisation verticals too.We have developed our own end to end library of streaming workflow components and we rapidly build deploy and license tailor-made workflow solutions using this library. Clients have seen significant reductions in OPEX, increases in productivity and scale and availability. We put in place what AWS described as 'one of the largest digital media workflows in EC2' for Thomson Reuters - delivering more than 30,000 live events each year. Since May 2013 in partnership with Arqiva, id3as delivers the encoding and delivery software platform that drives the delivery of 'red button' video available via the Internet to Freeview Plus' connected 'hybrid TV' services. Kerrang TV was the inaugural service and is available today on the 4Music 'red button' on Freeview Plus. www.thethursdaynightshow.com is a Weekly Eccentric Eclectic Internet Radio Show which brings together DJ's and performers streaming live, light entertainment from their own events, studios, strange and exciting places.I 'got into' streaming through a love for live music and entertainment, and with the experience of live production of thousands of webcasts for many other groups now behind me, as I spend my time designing large infrastructures with id3as, my love for the 'call to action' of a live event, and the practical thrill of going on air being in my blood needed an outlet.TheThursdayNightShow is entirely for fun. I have grown a team of like minded people from all walks of life who now 'meet' online at www.thethursdaynightshow.com and, against a schedule i define, they take it in turns to entertain us with their amateur radio programming.As we have grown we have started to engage with well known artists and DJs who, frankly, seem to find it great to just work with some technology-creatives who simply 'enjoy' the technology as much as they enjoy the content creation process.The project is entirely unfunded apart from the nominal licensing costs and hosting costs, which are covered by id3as and Sharp-Stream. Having run the increasingly professional sounding group of amateurs from around the world for several years now I have personally had an extremely enjoyable ride in crossing the road from pure production into direction and promotion of content.I would be the first to admit that as a radio host i have MUCH to learn, and as a promoter i have, to say the least, learned a lot already about how to raise awareness with no budget.The interesting thing is that as a marketing vehicle for id3as, the real-world, regularly updated 'story' of the show engages those in my professional world with incredible frequency: - you would be surprised how many of those we work with in the Streaming Media sector are frustrated DJs, Radio Hosts and Rock Guitarists!

We closed Global-MIX in January 2010, having seen it reach the top of its market space. Foreseeing a significant change in the sector (mainly preciptated by the commoditisation of cloud infrastrcutures) we decided to exit while the 'going was good'. Much of the IPr had bee separated into a new company called GMIX Software and I am continuing to explore ways to take this forward with various members of the former team.I am now freelancing / consulting again as D2Consulting Ltd - back in the saddle of my own venture again. I am completing the Product Project Management for a significant architecture overhaul of the live streaming infrastructure for Thomson Reuters, exploring a fully elastic live CDN development for JetStream, assisting two clients with Due Diligence work for M&As, developing a Hardware Encoder with the UK's leading Digital Media Encoder distributor and continue to advise on workflow and infrastructure design with more than a dozen clients that I have managed to accrue in the first 8 months of operation!So if you need a skilled pair of eyes on your Live Streaming Project or development let me know!

Changing times, changing roles. I loved being CTO, but with a great person to replace me my energies can now focus on the broader commercial aspects of the company.Global-MIX was a pioneering company, a little ahead of its times in a volatile emerging market facing large US players.I steered us through several world firsts including the worlds first 3D Webcast (Abbey Road / Keane) and being the first true Public Internet IP Multicast service provider (delivering Windows Media Multicast across LINX to multiple domestic ISP subscribers (for the likes of Sky Sports and the World Rally Series), We also pioneered a technology that precipitated Autmatic Multicast without Explicit Tunnels (AMT) found in many CDN architectures today.We peaked our live stream (which was our focus) distribution at about 120m streams a month - largely Internet Radio (About 40% of the UK's was hosted in our network) - and regularly carried live audiences of 20-30k viewers.I led our contribution to several Internet Policy Discussions at The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) having made Global-MIX one of the first 'CDNs' to participate in ISPA and engage with many political discussion in the UK about Content Rights online.I was proud to be CEO when we were awarded the best Delivery Network In Europe Streaming Media Readers Award 2009, notable beating Limelight Networks! I am the CTO of Global-MIX and also at m3u.com. For many years my own consulting title has been D2 Consulting.I have provided consultancy and Internet Video services for clients ranging from Number 10 Downing Street (UK Prime Ministers office) through Fatboyslim, Netscape, BT, Microsoft, North One, BSkyB and many hundreds of others.I beleive i was the second person to produce a public webcast in the UK and the first to become a Professional 'Webcaster' and have produced thousands of live events.

I was in charge of Internet Content Production for 8 months at BT Rich Media and asked to look at live delivery solutions over IP for what has become BT Vision.I left the contract when they offered me a permanent position if I would close Global-MIX (which was still operating under management i put in place). Global-MIX was beginning to win in competitive tenders against BT for various opportunities. And so i left BT.
