I won funding through the competitive EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship programme (for a second time, see below) to continue work on my research proposal in theoretical quantum physics.My primary roles are to conceive of research projects, find appropriate collaborators, take them through to publication in scientific journals, and present at conferences.My daily responsibilities in this role are: Writing code in Python, C++, and Mathematica; Deriving mathematical equations; Analysing experimental data using e.g. linear regression, Writing papers/producing graphics and publishing these in academic journals; Engaging in peer-review; Supervising PhD and master's students; Collaborating with colleagues on research projects to overcome hurdles; keeping up to date with the literature.The codes I write have two main functions. (A) to generate data from mathematical equations which I use to understand the behaviour of a system. (B) to analyse data generated by experimental collaborators using statistical analysis and modelling.

To work on a research project at the University of Manchester, and take it through to publication. For this project I developed the mathematical theory, produced graphics, published the results in Physical Review B, and disseminated my results at five conferences around the UK and Europe.
