[South Africa] Regional Communications Officer Ird-Cnrs-Cirad Southern/East Africa & Indian Ocean

Reporting directly to Jean-Pascal Torréton, Head of IRD-CNRS-Cirad in Southern Africa. Also reporting to the Head of IRD representations both in East Africa and in the Indian Ocean, as well as coordinating with CNRS and IRD headquarters in France. In charge of scientific communications for the 3 research institutes in 3 regions on the African continent:• For IRD in Southern Africa, covering South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique• For IRD in East Africa, covering Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and Djibouti• For IRD in the Indian Ocean, covering La Réunion, Mayotte, Scattered Islands of the IO (+ the Seychelles and Comoros, and co-communication on Madagascar)• For CNRS in Southern Africa, covering the 13 countries of the region: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, eSwatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe• For Cirad in South AfricaResponsibilities:• Development of a communication strategy for the office• Social media: posts drafting and Community Management • Website management • Design, production and dissemination of communication materials for the office: press reviews, newsletters, press releases, brochures, graphic designs, short videos, photographs, etc. • Local press and media relations• Support researchers in the communication and promotion of their scientific projects in the region• Organize and support institutional and scientific events (exhibitions, conferences, public debates, field visits, etc.)• Developing partnerships with local/regional/French (established in the region) media, cultural or academic institutions• Plan and manage budgets for communication and for scientific cultural actions• Promotion of IRD-CNRS-Cirad international cooperations tools in the region
