My philosophy for delivering projects safely is to, once the right people are placed in the key roles and expectations are set, work hard at empowering the members of my team, trust, encourage and enable them (by removing unnecessary hurdles and obstacles and provide guidance when required) to become as good as they can be as a team. By creating a safe space where team members can share their expertise and views freely and where disagreements can be resolved through respectful dialogue without escalating into conflict, a high performing team will be guaranteed.Over the years I was fortunate to project manage several key major key capital projects ranging from a scoping study of a new mineral sands mine development in Sri Lanka, delivering a sensitive rehabilitation zircon tailings project in Virginia, USA, new mine development studies for Sierra Rutile Limited in Sierra Leone, Iluka's Wimmera and Eneabba Rare Earth Projects. More recently I was Study Manager for Albemarle on the Kemerton Lithium Hydroxide Trains 3&4 Expansion Project and the Senior Study Manager for Albemarle's Kings Mountain Lithium Mine Development Project. I find the early stages of project definition, strategy development, the setup and development of teams and scope definitions stages of major capital projects particularly rewarding. My background is diverse; I have a Chemical Engineering degree with a Masters in Project Management, experienced as a Project Manager with previous roles including R&D and Operations Metallurgist, Production Management and Major Projects Metallurgist, Advanced Process Control, Expert Systems and Production Information Management Systems. (Diamonds, Mineral Sands, Rare Earths and Lithium.) I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
