CurrentDon is admitted to practice in Georgia, Florida and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. For more than 35 years his practice has focused on three areas (intellectual property, product liability and aviation law), in which his background in engineering at Georgia Tech and his experience in aviation continue to be invaluable. He has been lead counsel in litigation in state and federal courts throughout the country. Aviation and Products Liability: Don is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in the field of aviation law. He is currently the chair person elect of the Aviation Special Litigation Group of the Product Liability Committee of DRI. He is also currently active in the representation of aviation lenders having recently filed his second amicus brief in thirty years in the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of the National Aircraft Finance Association, continuing to advocate for the application of federal standards in the field of aviation to provide uniformity and to promote aviation in the United States. He is an active licensed commercial, instrument and multi-engine rated pilot. Intellectual Property: A member of the Patent Bar since 1976, Don has counseled and represented clients in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation for more than 35 years. The patent matters have involved such diverse technologies as telecommunications, computer software, business methods, mechanical devices and digital printing. The trademark matters have included internationally and nationally known brands, and emerging marks and brands. These cases often have involved related unfair competition and antitrust claims. Mediation: Most recently, based on his experience in litigation, he has been trained in alternative dispute resolution as a mediator and looks forward to assisting parties avoid unnecessary litigation in all fields, particularly those in which he is most experienced, through effective ADR efforts.
