Principal Systems Engineer (1999 – Present): Played a key role in the continuous operations and top performance of SNA and IP logical network environment by providing third level support. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network related problems, from Layers 1 through 7. Executed a wide-range of tasks, including Installation, testing, and evaluation of network monitoring tools and software. Maintained security and integrity of data systems and file transmission with oversight of mainframe firewall intrusion detection, using IPSEC, TTLS, SCP, and NDM. Selected Accomplishments: • Enabled real-time data replication capabilities by converting system disk mirroring from HDS True Copy to IBM XRC. Implemented XRC disk mirroring and transitioned disaster recovery in-house to achieve a recovery time objective of 2 hours or less and realized a cost savings of $15 million. Configured TCP/IP stack on LPARS to create an alternate system using PAGENT, DNS, DVIPA and 3DNS for active-active systems. • Selected to lead project team initiative to reduce maintenance costs of mainframe network software. Wrote proposal for selection, recommended and selected vendor, installed and configured the selected software. Configuration and installation included utilizing SMP/E for system install and creating VTAM mode tables, and configuring MIB for SNMP. Trained customers on usage of new software tool. Saved $1.6 million in annual maintenance cost.• Managed Data Center Operations, including computer operations, distribution center, environmental facilities, support areas, and maintained continuity and availability of both on-line and batch operations. Created quality recognition program for department staff resulting in a 30% increase in productivity and improved employee relations.
