I am directly accountable and work under the supervision of the Chief of Police. My primary duties consist of being a supervisor in charge of a shift and acting as an assistant to the Chief of Police.I circulate throughout Perry Township, maintaining close contact with other personnel assigned to my shift. I perform random preventative patrol, answer calls for service, and make arrests when necessary.I review reports prepared by subordinate officers for completeness and accuracy.I am responsible for assuming complete charge of investigations as required by departmental procedures.I maintain awareness of personnel under my command. I inspect them for efficiency of operation and conformity with orders and other authoritative instruction. I initiate corrective actions and disciplinary measures as indicted. This includes the filing of departmental charges when appropriate, issuing formal reprimands, and handling counseling sessions.

These requests were first screened by the dispatcher to determine if there was a possibility of a physical confrontation or if a suspect was in the immediate vicinity. In such cases, a uniformed sworn officer was sent in my place.I was not a sworn officer and did not carry a firearm. I could not make arrests. I could investigate reports of crime or occurrences that came to the attention of the police department, when a suspect was not present but most of my duties consisted of taking fingerprint impressions, transporting documents, and assisting the Records Secretary.
