River Islands is a beautiful master planned community located along the San Joaquin River in Lathrop, Calif. The community of new homes has schools, parks, soccer fields and the Boathouse restaurant. Located in the Town Center of the community is a new amateur baseball facility called Islanders Field. Opening Day was May 15, 2019. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 500 people, natural grass, concessions, batting cages and lighting by Musco. The field can accommodate players age 13 thru 18 including collegiate players. Islanders Field has hosted many Elite programs since opening day including MLB training for Area Code players. Congratulations to the 2017 HOOTS Connie Mack team to finish as the National Runner Up at the Connie Mack World Series.The HOOTS Baseball Club, founded in 1991 by Coach Don Johns, originated as an American Legion Baseball program. The team through the years has produced multiple players who have advanced to college and professional baseball. The HOOTS have won several California State and West Region Championships and in 2000 won the American Legion National Championship. The program joined Connie Mack Baseball Program as a member of American Amateur Baseball Congress. It has been on of the top programs in the west and the nation and advanced to the Connie Mack World Series in 2009,2011 and for the third time in 2014 where they finished in the Final Four teams playing for the Connie Mack National Championship. While the program serves the bay area, it has maintained its home in Danville with players from many of the east bay communities. Players in the program are high school age from grades 9 through 12.
