I am a senior-level engineering geologist and have been practicing in the field of geotechnical engineering and seismic hazard for 30 years. I currently work remotely out of my home in LIttleton, Colorado. and service our southern California practice as a California CEG and also as part of a global seismic hazard practice group.During the first half of my career, my practice was primarily related to residential and commercial land development throughout the southern California region. During that time, I began to manage a wide variety of projects largely related to preliminary subsurface investigations and land development. I gained significant experience in landslide evaluation and mitigation and active fault field assessments in addition to managing field personnel on large mass grading projects. During the latter half of my career, I have honed my experience in consulting primarily associated with geotechnical and seismic hazard assessments within the mining, solid waste, and oil & gas markets. I specialize in Quaternary geomorphology and have been involved in numerous active fault investigations throughout California, the western United States and in various locations overseas. Due to changing water regulations in Chile, I have been involved with geohazard studies for pipelines that extend hundreds of kilometers across active fault terrain from the Atacama Desert to the Andes mountain range. Since 2007, I have been an active contributor within the Seismic Hazard group – a collection of about professionals in the circum-Pacific region focused on working on the leading edge of seismic hazard assessments (SHA). My focus is on global crustal faults and deterministic seismic hazard studies as well as field evaluation for potentially active faults that may impact siting of critical facilities. I do not have a coding background; however, I am currently working with proprietary R-based programs to provide site-specific deterministic SHA output. During the last decade and prior to a transfer to the Denver, Colorado office, I was lead for the geotechnical engineering group in southern California. I oversaw the recruitment, training and mentoring for entry-level geologists and engineers. Currently, my business focus is seismic hazard assessments for engineering structures around the globe, though I continue to oversee grading projects in California where I maintain licensure as a certified engineering geologist (CEG 2284).
