I have progressed at Deloitte Consulting over the last 24 years, becoming a Director in 2005, and a Principal in 2009. Since the mid 1990s, my focus has been to help companies to envision, design, and implement shared services organizations. As the market has changed and matured, companies have broadened their approaches to shared services to include delivery from global locations, use of 3rd party service providers, and most recently, automation. Over time, we have seen significant improvements in control, quality, and delivery cost through the use of these improvement levers. In the last several years, Deloitte's market leading Shared Services practice has published numerous pieces of market research, including our biennial Shared Services Survey (published in odd years) and our biennial Outsourcing Survey (published in even years). I have also personally led several additional research efforts, including recent work in the areas of organization structure for multi-function Global Business Services (GBS) organizations, and the use of automation for step-function performance improvements.
