One of our senior managers was about to lose a major partner, the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), because of lack of program growth. Because of my help in getting him a network protocol list, he asked if I wanted to work on this program. I took this on and quickly solved the reason why the program wasn’t growing. Within a few months all that remained of the team were me and a small, fierce team I managed. We not only saved our company a major client, but also reduced costs to our customers.By working with and learning from upstream and downstream channel partners that make a business operate, we gained insight into the entire convenience store industry. Our established network of knowledgeable industry influencers allowed the program to flourish without a large marketing campaign budget. This eventually led to establishing nationwide support systems available to all at no cost. We know a lot of powerful people but can learn just as much from our mom and pops. I went from offering the lowest cost processing to providing a free support system of solutions to our customers, which is missing in most industries. Listening and solving problems is what I do best.
