As Senior Vice President at Blue Compass Don leveraged his experience to help strategically grow, develop and oversee Dealership Operations, Staff Development and Customer Service with the company’s 107 stores Nationwide. In this role the key focus was driving integration, alignment, efficiency and best practice implementation around Operational Processes, Sales Training, Inventory Management, Purchasing and Standards of Excellence in all areas of the businesses post M&A closure. Don was a member of the Board of Directors for 5 years, providing guidance and input to a very committed and proud ownership group as well as to a very dedicated Executive Team. Previously Don held the position of East Region President in the company and lead its growth from 7 to 48 Dealerships with the industry’s best track record in many key metrics compared to all public competitors. While East Region President, that portion of Blue Compass grew faster than any other retail group in the Industry under his leadership. After Region President, Don was promoted to the role of Senior Vice President for one year, prior to his departure. Don became President and CEO of RV One Superstores by acquiring one dealership, Albany RV, in October 2000, with 9 Associates and its single location footprint in upstate New York. The company implemented an expansion strategy leading with high employee satisfaction, extensive training and a combination of dealership acquisitions and greenfields as well as an intentional focus on fundamental organic growth principles. In the 18 years Don was CEO of RV One the company experienced exceptional growth and never saw a reduction Y/Y in top line revenue, EBITDA or store locations, notably expanding profitability during the great recession in 2009. RV One grew to become the 5th largest RV Retailer in United States by 2018 when it was acquired by Blue Compass and Redwood Capital Investments marking the biggest retail acquisition on record in the industry. Don became the 2nd largest stakeholder in the new entity at that time and proudly joined its Board Of Directors and operating team.
