Don Wright is the Executive Director, Enterprise at Western Sydney University, in this role he leads the University's innovation, industry partnerships and precinct activation teams. Don is a co-founder of the University's highly successful Launch Pad Technology Business Incubator which supports a range of startup accelerator based support for students, staff and the community as well as research commercialisation, specialised entrepreneurship training programs and SME transformation. As an innovation leader, Don has driven and advocated strongly for the development of Western Sydney as Australia’s next regional innovation hub both through activity associated with the University and the Western Sydney Business Connection where he is a former Director & Vice President. Don’s original qualifications are in Mech Engineering and he has an MBA in International Business. Don has worked in a range of small and large engineering firms across a range of sectors including aerospace, automotive, health and education. He has operated his own consulting business working globally in Aerospace and Defence with industry and government to develop opportunities for Australian industry participation in major global programs such as Joint Strike Fighter. In addition to his main role, Don now works also as a mentor for tech start-up companies, assisting founders to establish and scale their businesses with a focus on, digitalisation, innovative business models and advanced manufacturing technologies.
