PIXAPP is Europe's leading Photonics Integrated Circuits Assembly and Packaging Pilot Line, a 15.5 Million Euro project sponsored by the European Commission to scale up assembly and packaging of integrated photonics in Europe.PIXAPP is a Public Private Partnership supported by Photonics 21, as Project Manager I was responsible for coordinating a 23 partner consortium, a mix of research institutes and industry partners as well as maintaining communications with the European Commission.In addition I supported the financial management and reporting of the Photonics Packaging Group to enable a sustainable growth to the research activities which included over 20 research projects from various funding agencies including SFI, Enterprise Ireland, Horizon 2020/Europe and industry collaborations.Work package leader of the OIP4NWE TransNational Network to support the involvement of European based SME to implement integrated photonics to their products.

I was in charge of the pre-award and post-award financial management of EU funded research grants includes budgeting, financial performance management and reporting of the grants to the European Commission. The main challenge in R&D grant management is the management of cash-flows as payments received upfront are for extended periods and should be able to cover the costs for the following months.
