Dr. Fox is a highly credentialed internationally-recognized toxicology educator, lecturer, researcher and consultant with over 45 years of training, expertise and experience in the disciplines of toxicology and pharmacology, neurotoxicology and neuropharmacology, ocular and retinal toxicology, environmental and occupational toxicology, and human health assessment. He has specific expertise in the areas of off-target drug effects, alcohol, marijuana/cannabis, opioids, recreational drugs and other drugs of abuse, carbon monoxide and other gases, lead and other heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, nutraceuticals, drug-drug interactions, and postmortem toxicology. Dr. Fox applies his expertise towards specific causation analysis as well as resolving disputes related to exposure and adverse effects of alcohol, chemicals, drugs, and gases on human behavior and health and to wrongful deaths. He has been deposed and testified in state and federal courts as an expert witness. In addition, he has worked as an expert consultant for numerous national and international pharmaceutical and biotech companies.Dr. Fox earned his Ph.D. degree from The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed post-doctorate training at the University of California: Davis. He was Professor of Vision Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston (UH) where he taught and conducted research for 30+ years. He is a Fellow in the Academy of Toxicological Sciences (ATS) and in the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). He received numerous prestigious teaching, research and career awards from the Society of Toxicology (SOT), UH and the City of Houston. He is an active member in many professional societies where he was elected as an officer. He served on advisory committees including the NIH, NTP, NAS/NRC, US EPA and FDA. He serves/served as Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member for toxicology, environmental health, and vision/ocular science journals. He published 100+ peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters, and received numerous federal and other research grants. He has given over 100 invited talks at national and international universities, societies, government agencies, and legal meetings and workshops.
