I am a founder of Multiwire Laboratories, a company that develops and manufactures products for rapid x-ray orientation of single crystals by the Laue back-reflection method. Industrial and academic laboratories that utilize a real-time Laue detector, motorized orientation stages, and computer analysis of back-reflection images to characterize or determine the orientation of the lattice planes in a variety of crystals such as silicon, gallium arsenide, high Tc-superconductors, sapphire, geological minerals, turbine blades, etc.

I helped to design & operate CHESS, the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source, a Cornell user facility for hard x-ray science. I'm also proponent/designer of Energy Recovery Linacs, a new type of coherent source of x-rays for advanced x-ray science applications.
